About The Event
Bryan Brown has been telling stories with his distinctive Australian voice on TV and in film for a long time, but this time he’s writing crime in his first book, Sweet Jimmy. Says Sam Neill: ‘My friend Bryan Brown, quite apart from his other manifold talents, turns out to be an excellent writer. An authentic voice; highly imaginative yet completely believable, with a flair for fully realised characters and a gripping narrative … a great story teller. This is utterly baffling. I’m furious.’
On Wednesday 8 December, join Brown in conversation with Tim Ayliffe, journalist and current Managing Editor of Television and Video for ABC News, and fellow crime fiction author. With the pair talking Brown’s new, successful foray into writing, you’re in for an evening of great entertainment at the Balmain Peninsula’s first microbrewery, White Bay Beer Co.
Doors open at 6pm. Attendees are asked to arrive at 6.30pm or earlier for a 7pm start. Seating is unallocated – another reason to arrive early to secure an optimal spot! The bar opens 6pm and closes at 9.30pm on the night of the event, making for an opportune time to settle in and grab a drink before or after, with an incredible range of locally brewed beers and other beverages to enjoy.
There’ll be plenty of delicious food available too thanks to special event caterer Satay Brothers Food Truck, so why not make a full evening of it and come for dinner too?
Sweet Jimmy will be available for purchase at the venue through Roaring Stories, with book signings from Bryan Brown following discussion. Ayliffe’s latest book The Enemy Within (2021) will also be available to buy.
For those who can’t make it in person, the event will be livestreamed from Roaring Stories Facebook page (accessible on the Home page and from the Live tab), and available to view later as an upload on the Roaring Stories YouTube channel.
