Vika and Linda Bull in conversation with Wendy Harmer

‘You can’t beat siblings singing together … They make the air beat in sync.’ – Paul Kelly

Together, iconic Melbourne duo Vika and Linda Bull create one of Australian music’s most emotionally charged and critically acclaimed sounds.

They’ve played gigs for Nelson Mandela, the King of Tonga and 100,000 fans at the AFL Grand Final; been nominated for five ARIA Awards; were inducted into the Music Victoria Hall of Fame in 2019; and received the medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2022.

They’re dropping their first ever book in October this year, the extraordinary memoir, No Bull. The book’s release will also coincide with their new album Gee Whiz, it’s Christmas!, out in November.

Filled with the infectious humour and charming honesty that fans adore, No Bull charts the Tongan-Australian sisters’ long and winding road to centre stage, from growing up in 1970s Doncaster in suburban Melbourne to being collaborators and backing singers to some of Australia’s biggest acts for three decades and now, in their fifties and after raising families, to becoming a hugely popular headline act in their own right.

No Bull conveys the warmth, wit and joy for which Vika and Linda have become renowned, but it also, for the first time, shares many candid stories of facing racism at school and in the music industry, the crippling low self-esteem that held them back in their careers, and their efforts to exorcise their personal demons.

On Wednesday 2 November, join these two chart-topping sisters in conversation on the book with one of Australia’s most well-known and much-loved humourists, Wendy Harmer.

No Bull will be available for purchase at the venue through Roaring Stories, with book signings from Vika and Linda following the discussion.

Attendees are asked to arrive at 6.30pm or earlier for a 7pm start at White Bay Beer Co. Seating is unallocated – another reason to arrive early to secure an optimal spot! The bar opens 6pm and closes at 9.30pm on the night of the event, making for an opportune time to settle in and grab a drink before or after, with an incredible range of locally brewed beers and other beverages to enjoy.

There’ll be plenty of delicious food available too thanks to a special event catererso why not make a full evening of it and come for dinner too? You can order before or after the event.

If you miss out on a ticket, you can still watch the event as it is livestreamed from the Roaring Stories Facebook page (accessible on the Home page and from the Live tab). A recording will also be available to view later as an upload on the Roaring Stories YouTube channel.

Due to an increase in operating costs with our larger events, Roaring Stories had no option but to increase the price of tickets to all author events at White Bay Beer Company scheduled for November 2022 and later. Ticket prices to events at our second event venue, The Royal Oak, remain the same of $10 + $2.64 booking fee. We aim to keep our event ticket prices as low as possible. Thank you for your support and understanding.
